The investigation quickly identified James Green, the nephew of Alford and Teresa Baker, as a person of interest. Green, aged 31, was apprehended in Pooler, Georgia, after exhibiting erratic behavior at a local church. He was found driving a car registered to Alford Baker and was in possession of a firearm. Green's behavior and possession of the vehicle led Georgia police to request the well-being check that ultimately uncovered the double homicide.
Further investigation revealed that Green had been living with his aunt and uncle at the Tanglewood Lane residence.
