Trevaughn Ali Wilkerson, a 21-year-old resident of Gainesville, Florida, tragically lost his life on January 18, 2021. The incident occurred in the Linton Oaks neighborhood, where Wilkerson was fatally shot during an armed robbery while sitting in his car. According to reports, the alleged gunman, Xaviyaun Williams, approached Wilkerson with the intent to rob him. Wilkerson was in the front seat of his vehicle when Williams demanded drugs.
When Wilkerson did not comply, Williams shot him through the open window. The shooting was witnessed by a passenger in Wilkerson's car, who also reported that Williams attempted to shoot him, but the gun malfunctioned.
Following the shooting, Williams and another suspect, Cornelius Allen, searched Wilkerson's car and took drugs from the scene. Williams fled in a white Lexus, which he later crashed before escaping on foot. Despite efforts by law enforcement, Williams remained at large for some time. Two teenagers, Jonah Alexander Maultsby and Cornelius Allen, were later apprehended and charged as accessories after the fact to murder while engaged in a robbery. Both were prosecuted as adults for their roles in the incident.
In addition to the arrests of Maultsby and Allen, another individual, Anterria Robinson, was charged as an accessory to murder. Robinson was accused of aiding Williams after the shooting by picking him up and providing him with financial assistance. She was also involved in discussions about purchasing firearms and ammunition for Williams. Robinson was arrested and held at the Alachua County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
The investigation into Wilkerson's death revealed that the incident was drug-related, with Wilkerson allegedly involved in a drug deal with Williams. The tragic event highlighted the dangers associated with such activities and led to multiple arrests and legal proceedings.
