Edward Alan White, a 50-year-old resident of Greensboro, Florida, tragically lost his life on September 24, 2020, in Quincy, Florida. Edward, known to his friends and family as Alan, was a lifelong resident of Gadsden County and was deeply involved in his community. He attended Bethel Assembly of God and was remembered fondly by those who knew him.

On the morning of September 24, 2020, deputies responded to a distress call reporting gunshots and a car crash at the intersection of Greensboro Highway and Garner Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered Edward White, who had been fatally shot, inside a vehicle. A female driver, who was also shot, was found at the scene and transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The incident was immediately classified as a homicide, prompting a thorough investigation by the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
The investigation quickly led to the identification of three suspects: Lenvontae Brown, also known as "Busta," Chavez Street, and Vershan Mathews, also known as "Teacher-man." These individuals were believed to be responsible for the shooting that resulted in Edward White's death. On October 16, 2020, a coordinated raid involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the GCSO, FDLE, Leon County Sheriff’s Office, and Tallahassee Police Department, was conducted in the Sawdust Community of Gadsden County. This operation resulted in the arrests of Brown and Street, who were charged with first-degree premeditated murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm. Mathews was apprehended a few days later and faced similar charges.
The arrests brought some measure of relief to Edward White's grieving family, as Sheriff Morris A. Young expressed his condolences and emphasized the commitment of law enforcement to bringing justice to the victims of such senseless crimes. The case highlighted the collaborative efforts of various law enforcement agencies in addressing violent crimes and ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable. The community of Quincy, while mourning the loss of Edward White, found some solace in the swift actions taken by the authorities to apprehend those responsible for his untimely death.
