Larry Thomas Hill III, an 18-year-old from Panama City Beach, Florida, tragically lost his life on September 2, 2019. Hill, also known as Tre, was fatally shot at a Wendy’s restaurant located at 8720 Thomas Drive. The incident occurred behind the restaurant, where officers found Hill suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite being rushed to a nearby medical facility, he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into Hill's death quickly led to the identification and arrest of two
suspects: Kyle Anthony Crow, 17, and Tristen Mixon, 15. Crow was charged with an open count of murder, while Mixon faced charges of accessory to murder. The Panama City Beach Police Department, with assistance from the State Attorney’s Office, conducted a thorough investigation that included traveling to Dothan, Alabama, where Crow and Mixon were located and interviewed. Both suspects were taken into custody by the Dothan Police Department and later extradited back to Bay County.
Further details emerged during the investigation, revealing that the shooting occurred during an attempted robbery. Crow, armed with a semi-automatic pistol, tried to rob Hill, leading to a physical altercation between the two. During the struggle, Crow shot Hill once. After the shooting, Crow and Mixon fled to Dothan, Alabama, where they were eventually apprehended. Mixon admitted to police that Crow had planned the robbery to obtain cash and had buried the firearm to hide evidence. The police were able to recover the weapon.
In addition to the charges against Crow and Mixon, Crow's mother, Karen Crow, was also implicated in the case. She was charged with attempting to hinder the murder investigation. The legal proceedings saw Kyle Crow's case being waived to adult court, where he faced charges of second-degree murder with a firearm, attempted robbery with a firearm, and tampering with physical evidence. The case against Mixon, as an accessory to murder, also proceeded through the juvenile justice system.
