Lourdine Cazeau, a 41-year-old woman from Delray Beach, FL, tragically lost her life on March 25, 2018, in a harrowing incident that also claimed the lives of her sister, Pierrena Rosemberg, 43, and Pierrena's husband, Julien Techeler Rosemberg, 44. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning at a residence on NW 13th Avenue in Delray Beach.
According to police reports, Julien Techeler Rosemberg used a semi-automatic handgun to fatally shoot his wife, Pierrena, and her sister, Lourdine, before turning the gun on himself in what has been described as a double murder-suicide.
Lourdine Cazeau, a Black woman, was found shot multiple times, with one of the fatal shots occurring while she was asleep in bed. The tragic event unfolded with four children present in the home, ranging in age from 5 to 14. These children, including Pierrena and Julien's three kids and Lourdine's child, were forced to flee the scene, running past the bodies of their mothers.
The Delray Beach Police Department, which had no prior calls to the residence, responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. The Department of Children and Families was notified, and the children were placed with relatives. The motive behind Julien Techeler Rosemberg's actions remains unclear, as family members and neighbors described the couple as seemingly happy and loving. Julien and Pierrena had been married for over 20 years and had met in Haiti before settling in Delray Beach.
The community was left in shock and mourning, with family members expressing their disbelief and sorrow over the loss of Lourdine Cazeau and Pierrena Rosemberg. The family had to plan two funerals amidst the grief and confusion surrounding the tragic event. The investigation by the Delray Beach Police Department aimed to piece together the circumstances leading up to the double murder-suicide, but no further arrests or suspects were identified beyond Julien Techeler Rosemberg.
