Edvin Milkevic, a 29-year-old man from Lake Worth, FL, was tragically killed on February 7, 2018, in what appeared to be a random act of violence. Milkevic, who was driving a black Nissan 370Z, was shot multiple times by 22-year-old Hugo Selva during a 20-hour crime spree that spanned Palm Beach County. The spree began on February 6 and included multiple shootings, culminating in the fatal shooting of Milkevic on Interstate 95.
Milkevic was shot in the head and left bicep, and despite being rushed to Delray Medical Center, he succumbed to his injuries at 4:46 a.m. on February 7.
Selva's crime spree began with the shooting of Charles Brown Jr. in the back on February 6, followed by the shooting of Anthony Fonti, a former friend, in the early hours of February 7. Milkevic's encounter with Selva was entirely random, as there was no known connection between the two men. After shooting Milkevic, Selva continued his rampage, shooting his girlfriend, Nicole Novak, later that morning. Selva's spree ended when he was shot and killed by a Palm Beach County deputy after a series of crashes on I-95.
Investigations revealed that Milkevic, a restaurant manager born in Lithuania, had no enemies and no apparent reason to be targeted. His family and friends were unable to provide any leads to the police. The ballistics report confirmed that the same .45-caliber Glock used to kill Novak was also used in the shooting of Milkevic. The case was closed with the death of Selva, and no further arrests or litigations were reported.
