The couple's daughter, Damecia Stephens, discovered Clark's body when she returned home after her shift ended at midnight on February 19. She reported that everything seemed normal when she arrived, but she was later woken up by a loud boom. Tribble then instructed her to pack bags for herself and her two younger brothers so they could leave the house.
Following the incident, Tribble, Stephens, and the two boys checked into a hotel a few miles away. The next day, they picked up a friend of Tribble's and drove to the Walton County Correctional Facility in Defuniak Springs. During this trip, Tribble handed Stephens a bag containing a heavy metal object and instructed her to dispose of it. The group then visited their boyfriends in prison before returning to Polk County. Upon their return, Tribble asked her brother, Kenneth Stacy, for help moving something from her house. When they arrived at the house, Stacy found Clark's body and confronted Tribble, who admitted to shooting Clark because she was tired of him "jumping on her." Stacy refused to help move the body, and the next morning, Stephens discovered her father's body and called 911.
Tribble was arrested on February 23, 2016, and charged with first-degree murder, tampering with a witness, tampering with physical evidence, and providing false statements in a homicide investigation. She was found guilty on October 31, 2017, and sentenced to life in prison. The case revealed that Tribble had been visiting an inmate at the Walton Correctional Institution for about a year and had returned to her home on multiple occasions after the murder. Despite initially denying involvement, Tribble eventually admitted to knowing that Clark was dead and had been shot in the head.
