Moise Joseph, a 30-year-old man from Tallahassee, Florida, tragically lost his life on September 13, 2015, in a heroic act of protection. Joseph was returning from a date with his girlfriend when they were confronted by her armed ex-husband, Sheldon Maurice Rogers, at her apartment complex. Rogers, who had a history of conflict with his ex-wife, approached the couple with a gun.
