In the early morning hours of a cold Saturday in late autumn, the life of Thomas Edward Burrell, a 36-year-old Black man from Baltimore, Maryland, came to a violent end. On November 30, 2013, Burrell was found shot in the back near the Brooklyn neighborhood of South Baltimore. Initially discovered without any identification, he was later identified as Thomas E.
