In a tragic turn of events that would foreshadow further heartbreak for his family, 16-year-old Hakeem Flowers was killed by gunfire in Macon, Georgia, in June 2022. The young man, who left behind a son, was one of three people shot in a vacant lot on Mason Street. Friends and family remembered him as a good son to his mother and a goofy kid who loved to have fun. He was a student at Soore Academy and had been working hard to graduate early.
