On the evening of March 30, 2022, the life of 30-year-old Edward Jerome Samuel of Sylvania, Georgia, was cut short by gunfire. The male victim was discovered by Statesboro Police Department patrol officers inside an apartment in the 100 block of Church Street after Bulloch County 911 received calls reporting shots fired at approximately 6:59 p.m. Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene, but Samuel was pronounced dead inside the residence.
