On March 3, 2019, Jimmy Lee Bryant, an 86-year-old African American man, was tragically murdered at his residence on MLK Jr. Drive in Cairo, Georgia. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was called in to assist the Cairo Police Department with the investigation. According to reports, Bryant was shot and later died in his yard. The incident stemmed from an ongoing domestic dispute that escalated earlier in the afternoon.
