In the late hours of a Tuesday in August, a sense of tragedy befell Athens, Georgia, with the untimely death of 29-year-old Daiymeyan Darrele Stevens. On August 16, 2016, Stevens, a male resident of the city, made a desperate call to 911 to report that he had been shot. The incident occurred at the Oaks Apartments on Gaines School Road in east Athens. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, he tragically succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
