A 34-year-old Black man, Anthony Walker, was shot and killed in Augusta, Georgia, on September 19, 2014. The incident led to the arrest and eventual conviction of Carlos Heard.
The shooting occurred on a Friday evening, and the initial investigation by the Richmond County Sheriff's Office pointed toward Heard as a suspect. A warrant for his arrest was issued, and he turned himself in to the authorities.
