In the early morning hours of March 13, 2022, a dispute that began at one location in Baton Rouge would tragically culminate in the death of 41-year-old Kelly Perez. Following the initial argument, Perez was followed back to an apartment complex on Gardere Lane near Governor Drive by four men. The confrontation escalated around 4 a.m. in the parking lot of the apartment building.
As the men exited their vehicle to confront Perez again, one of them opened fire, striking Perez multiple time
