On a warm Friday evening in New Orleans, on August 25, 2017, the life of 23-year-old Aldorrien Cardell Berry, a Black male, was tragically cut short. In the Gentilly neighborhood, around 10:15 p.m., violence erupted in the 2400 block of Athis Street, resulting in a double shooting that would leave one man dead and another wounded. First responders arrived to a grim scene, finding Berry on the front lawn of a residence and another man inside the home, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
