On New Year's Day of 2017, the life of 40-year-old Joseph Smith, a Black male, was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in New Orleans. The incident unfolded in the afternoon, around 2:22 p.m., in the 3800 block of D'Hemecourt Street.
