In the late hours of a Sunday in New Orleans, on November 6, 2016, the life of Dontreal A. Eleby, a 32-year-old African-American man, was tragically cut short. Authorities received a distressing call reporting a man shot inside a hotel located in the 12000 block of the South I-10 Service Road. Upon their arrival at the scene, they discovered Mr. Eleby on the floor in a first-floor hallway. He had sustained at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
