Craig Brown, a 61-year-old man from Jupiter, Florida, was found dead on February 6, 2025, at the Loxahatchee Slough Natural Area near West Palm Beach. His body was discovered inside a red Tesla parked in a lot at the natural area, with a gunshot wound and a pistol nearby. Authorities determined that the wound appeared to be self-inflicted, and the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner's Office ruled his death as a suicide.
Brown had been arrested on January 15, 2025, on multiple charges
related to the possession of child sexual abuse material. Investigators had received a cyber tip in November 2024, which led them to Brown's home. A search warrant was executed, and authorities recovered more than 5,400 images and videos from his electronic devices. In addition to the material found, officers seized 30 other devices from his residence for further investigation. At the time of his arrest, Brown was in possession of a firearm and was known to have numerous other weapons.
Following his arrest, Brown was released on a $300,000 bond on January 17, 2025. As part of his release conditions, he was prohibited from having contact with anyone under the age of 18, using technological devices, or accessing the internet. His next court date had been scheduled for April 2, 2025. However, his death brought an end to the prosecution, and the State Attorney’s Office in Palm Beach County confirmed that once the official death certificate was received, the case would be formally closed.
The discovery of Brown’s body was reported by a caller who had noticed a man slumped over inside the vehicle. Authorities responded to the scene and confirmed his identity. His death occurred approximately three weeks after his arrest, and there were no indications of foul play. The case remains closed following the determination of suicide.
