In the early hours of Labor Day morning, a sense of tragedy befell Baton Rouge with the death of 19-year-old Roderick Forkner. A sophomore at Southern University, Forkner was driving with a passenger near the intersection of Government Street and South Foster Drive when the unthinkable happened. At approximately 3:00 a.m., a dark-colored sedan pulled alongside his vehicle, and occupants within opened fire.
