In the early hours of February 12, 2026, Rudi Eugene Gastinell Jr., a 39-year-old man from New Orleans, Louisiana, was fatally shot. The incident occurred in the 3300 block of Hamilton Street. Responding to a call at approximately 12:48 a.m., New Orleans Police Department officers discovered Gastinell at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds.
