In the early hours of Sunday, March 1, 2026, a dispute in the parking lot of a Lewisville, Texas bar tragically cut short the life of 35-year-old Christopher Cornealious Crump-Brown. The incident unfolded around 1:00 a.m. outside Canuck's Bar in the 1100 block of Texas Street, where police responded to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered Crump-Brown in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds.
They administered life-saving measures until he could be transported to Medical City Lewisville in critical condition. Despite these efforts, Crump-Brown succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 8:56 a.m.
Witnesses at the scene provided police with a description of the man they said had been in a verbal and physical altercation with Crump-Brown just moments before the gunshots rang out. Shortly after the incident, officers located a man matching the suspect's description nearby. The individual was identified as 40-year-old Ronald Lamont Ross. According to a probable cause affidavit, surveillance video from a nearby Red Roof Inn, which shares a parking lot with the bar, captured the altercation. The video reportedly shows Ross holding a silver revolver and firing three rounds at Crump-Brown, who then fell to the ground.
Following the shooting, Ross was allegedly seen on surveillance footage walking away while still holding the gun. The affidavit states that after reviewing additional camera angles, officers observed Ross stopping near a fenced area containing a grill and a grease trap. When he came back into view, he was no longer carrying the firearm. A search of that area led to the discovery of a silver revolver inside a metal barrel filled with liquid grease.
Ronald Lamont Ross was taken into custody without incident. He was initially charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. After Christopher Cornealious Crump-Brown was pronounced dead, the assault charge was upgraded to murder. Authorities have not released a definitive motive for the shooting or stated whether the two men knew each other prior to the incident. The investigation remains ongoing, and police have encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
