On the evening of April 5, 2026, Kenneth W. Mims, a 42-year-old man from Dallas, was fatally shot at Breezy Hill Park in Terrell, Texas. Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 300 block of New Hope Street at approximately 9:48 p.m. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Mims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical aid was rendered at the scene by the officers until paramedics arrived.
Mims was then transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The incident was investigated as a homicide by the Terrell Police Department.
Following an investigation into the shooting, authorities identified a suspect. On the Wednesday following the incident, 17-year-old Lashadion D. Turner-Allen was arrested in connection with the death of Kenneth W. Mims. Turner-Allen was subsequently booked into the Terrell Municipal Jail. Funeral services for Mims were scheduled to be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church in Kaufman, Texas.
