On the night of June 22, 2026, Aldo Juan Mandujano, a 26-year-old Hispanic man from King City, California, was fatally shot in what police have described as a targeted ambush. The violent incident unfolded at approximately 10:50 p.m. at a Fastrip gas station located at 145 El Camino Real in Greenfield, CA. Mandujano was at pump number two with his 32-year-old girlfriend, Elizabeth Saavedra of Soledad, when multiple gunmen unleashed a barrage of as many as 30 rounds into their vehicle.
Both Mandujano and Saavedra were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators with the Greenfield Police Department, who arrived just 53 seconds after the initial 911 call, immediately began piecing together the events of the deadly assault. Police Chief Guillermo Mixer stated that the shooting appeared to be a deliberate and coordinated attack on both occupants of the car. Authorities believe the double homicide was gang-related and possibly an act of retaliation for the recent killing of a Sureño gang member in the nearby city of Soledad. Chief Mixer identified Mandujano as a member of the Norteño gang. Investigators are using surveillance footage from the gas station, as well as the city's Flock and Surveillance Grid camera systems, which captured the shooting and the suspects' getaway vehicle. These camera systems have reportedly provided significant leads in the case.
While police are optimistic about the investigation and have assured the public that there is no known ongoing threat, no arrests have been made in the case as of late June 2026. The Greenfield Police Department has urged any witnesses who were at the gas station at the time of the shooting to come forward, as they may have information not captured on video. In the wake of the tragedy, community members have rallied to support Mandujano's family. Relatives described him as a caring brother, cousin, and friend who was always cracking jokes and making people laugh. He was reportedly working to establish his own pressure-washing business and was enthusiastic about this new chapter in his life. The investigation into the targeted killing of Mandujano and Saavedra remains active as authorities continue to pursue leads in the hope of bringing justice to their families.
