In the late afternoon of a Tuesday in North Philadelphia, 43-year-old Raheem Jefferson parked his car and began walking towards the Al-Aqsa Islamic Society for a prayer service. As he made his way through the parking lot on Germantown Avenue, a man dressed in dark clothing approached him from behind and opened fire with a large-caliber semi-automatic handgun. The sudden and brutal attack was captured on surveillance video, which showed the gunman firing at least 17 rounds.
