In the East Lake community of Birmingham, Alabama, the afternoon of March 26, 2020, was shattered by violence that claimed the life of 33-year-old Khalia Sturdivant, a Black/African American male. Responding to a report of a burglary in the 7800 block of 1st Avenue North at approximately 1:20 p.m., officers from the East Precinct discovered Sturdivant in an alley, suffering from a gunshot wound.
