Mario Danilo Espinal, a 50-year-old man, was found in the darkness along Carson Road near 16th Terrace Circle NW in Center Point, Alabama, after sheriff’s deputies were dispatched shortly before 2:00 a.m. on September 6, 2022, to investigate a report of a body in the roadway. When deputies arrived, they determined he had been struck by a vehicle whose driver had already fled, leaving him behind on the street and turning an ordinary stretch of road into a sudden crime scene.
