In the late summer evening of August 28, 2023, tragedy struck the city of Selma, Alabama, when Randy James Doss, a 46-year-old Black male, was found with a fatal gunshot wound. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. in the 2800 block of Citizens Parkway. When officers from the Selma Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered Doss unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the location, marking the city's 17th homicide of the year.
