On April 15, 2022, in Valley, Alabama, 60-year-old James "Jimmy" Robert Worthy was fatally shot during an argument with his son, 33-year-old James Matthew Worthy. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. at their residence on Lee Road 279. James Worthy sustained gunshot wounds to his leg and abdomen and was pronounced dead at the scene.
