In the small town of Vernon, Alabama, the community was shaken by the tragic death of 12-year-old Jerron Barnes, a male student at Vernon Intermediate School. On the evening of Monday, September 11, 2017, Jerron was fatally shot at a residence on 4th Street Southwest sometime after 9 p.m. His death was officially confirmed by the Lamar County Coroner.
