Taris Jackson, a 23-year-old man, died on March 27, 2023, after being shot in the stomach. The incident occurred around 12:40 p.m. in an apartment located in the 7400 block of Southwest 10th Court in North Lauderdale, Florida.
When law enforcement arrived, they found Jackson suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was immediately taken to Broward Health North, where he was pronounced dead.
Multiple family members who were present at the scene were detained for questioning as part of the investigation.
The Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) conducted a year-long investigation into the shooting. Through their efforts, they identified 21-year-old Anthony Lemons as the suspect responsible for Jackson's death. Lemons was taken into custody on March 11, 2024.
Anthony Lemons is facing several charges, including one count of second-degree murder, resisting an officer without violence, probation violation, and multiple gun-related charges. He pleaded not guilty on May 7, 2024, and was scheduled for an arraignment hearing.
