In the early morning hours of October 4, 2024, a resident of the Avana Westside apartment complex in northwest Atlanta became the victim of a fatal encounter. Tasmin Thomell Harris, a 45-year-old Black male, was shot and killed. The incident unfolded around 12:15 a.m. on Huff Road when Harris apparently interrupted an individual breaking into his vehicle.
