Jun Zhang, 30, male, Asian left workaday routines behind him on a Friday evening and walked toward home in Palatine, where twilight had settled over the 800 block of South Plum Grove Road. Around 6 p.m. on November 17, 2023, first responders were dispatched for a report of a person down and bleeding; officers found Zhang on the front porch of a residence, unresponsive from an apparent gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
