On August 26, 2024, a homicide occurred in Port Sulphur, Louisiana, resulting in the death of 40-year-old Billy Saunier. The incident took place in the area of Caroline Drive, where Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office (PPSO) deputies responded to a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found a male victim with injuries consistent with gunshots. Despite the efforts of Plaquemines Parish Emergency Medical Services, Billy Saunier was pronounced dead at the scene.
