On August 8, 2024, 37-year-old Arnold Thomas Ortega Jr. was fatally shot in southeast Fresno, California. The incident occurred near the intersection of Lane and Recreation Avenues around 4:00 PM. According to police reports, Ortega was walking along Recreation Avenue when he was approached by a group of men who began assaulting him.
