On June 30, 2024, at approximately 12:28 a.m., Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) officers responded to reports of a shooting near Bristol Street and Memory Lane in Santa Ana, California. Upon arrival, they discovered 20-year-old Fernando Manuel Lopez lying in the southbound lanes of Bristol Street, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Despite life-saving efforts by emergency personnel, Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators from the SAPD Homicide Section initiated a thorough inquiry into the incident. Through extensive efforts, they identified 19-year-old Adrain Lopez of Santa Ana as the primary suspect in the fatal shooting. On July 11, 2024, Adrain Lopez was arrested near his residence. During the investigation, detectives executed multiple search warrants, uncovering additional evidence, including the firearm used in the crime. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
Following his arrest, Adrain Lopez was charged with murder under California Penal Code 187(a) and booked into the Santa Ana Jail. The case has been closely followed by local media outlets, and authorities continue to seek information from the public to assist in the ongoing investigation.
