Hugo Enrique Avila, a 38-year-old father, was tragically shot and killed on July 24, 2017, in South Gate, California. The incident occurred in the 9200 block of California Avenue, inside a commercial building that housed a smog-check center, a gym, and other businesses. South Gate Police officers responded to a call about gunfire at approximately 4:53 p.m. Upon arrival, they were directed to Avila's office, where he was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
