On May 7, 2023, a tragic shooting occurred at a house party in Adelanto, California, resulting in the death of 20-year-old Maqwan Allen from Rancho Cucamonga. The incident took place shortly before 1 a.m. at a residence in the 10900 block of Bartlett Avenue, where a birthday celebration was underway with approximately 30 attendees.
During the event, gunfire erupted, leading to multiple casualties.
Allen sustained critical injuries and was transported by private vehicle to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Another victim, 20-year-old Derrick Irutingabo from Arizona, was found deceased at the scene. In addition to the fatalities, five individuals aged between 14 and 40 suffered gunshot wounds and were hospitalized; their conditions were not disclosed.
Witnesses described the chaotic aftermath, with one neighbor recalling, "It sounded like a bunch of fireworks, to be honest. That's how bad it was." The same neighbor mentioned that she had attended the party earlier and noted that everyone seemed to be acting politely before the violence erupted.
As of the latest reports, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department had not identified any suspects involved in the shooting. Investigators urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
