In the early spring of 2007, a 14-year-old Indigenous boy named Desmond Raymond Clayton Peter vanished from the town of Duncan in British Columbia. He was last seen by his grandmother on March 6, 2007, near the Trans-Canada Highway. At the time of his disappearance, Desmond was described as being 5'6" tall and weighing 150 pounds, with a medium build, brown eyes, and straight black hair cut in a brush style. He was known to sometimes go by the names "Desi," "Desmond Louie," or "Casey Louie." Members of the Cowichan Tribes, his disappearance would spark a long and painful search for answers. Desmond's home life was reportedly unhappy, and he had a pattern of leaving home for days at a time, though he had always returned in the past. His grandmother reported him missing three days after she last saw him, when he failed to make contact. Despite these leads, none were ever substantiated, and the trail grew cold. Investigators have continued to follow up on any tips and information that have come in over the years. The years have stretched on without any definitive answers for Desmond's family. His case is one of several involving men who have disappeared from the Cowichan area around the same time, leading to speculation about possible connections, though nothing has been proven. The passage of time has not diminished the hope of finding out what happened to the young boy who was known to wear a dark-colored hoodie, sometimes pulled up to hide his face.
