On the night of October 28, 2022, tragedy struck in National City, California, when 18-year-old Edwin Barrera Jr. was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 11:35 p.m. in the 1800 block of East 17th Street, where Edwin and 16-year-old Gillian Aguilera were attending a Halloween party.
