James Chase, a 58-year-old man, was tragically shot and killed on September 15, 2020, in Ocean Beach, San Diego, California. The incident occurred near a lifeguard tower on Abbott Street. Patrol officers responded to reports of gunfire shortly after 1 a.m. and found Chase mortally wounded on the sand. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and it is unknown if Chase and the suspect were acquainted.
