In the spring of 2016, a horrific act of violence shattered the peace of a northwest Baltimore neighborhood, leading to the tragic death of 90-year-old Mary Helen Dickens-Hines, a Black female. On May 4th, police responded to a call for a possible home invasion and discovered a grim scene inside her residence. Dickens-Hines had been brutally beaten, tied up, and left unresponsive. The perpetrator was believed to have gained entry through a back door.
