Brent Hart, aged 25, tragically lost his life on March 17, 2022, in a drive-by shooting in Hollywood, Florida. The incident occurred at a strip mall along Southwest 69th Avenue and County Line Road, just east of the Florida Turnpike. Brent Hart and his friend, Dumas Cherizol-Amilcar, were waiting for their food outside Poohchello’s Restaurant when a black sedan drove by and fired dozens of shots indiscriminately towards the mall.
Both men were struck by the gunfire and later succumbed to their injuries at Memorial Regional Hospital. The surveillance footage released by the police showed the suspect vehicle heading south on 69th Avenue, with smoke and debris visible from the gunshots hitting the pavement and cars.
The investigation into the double homicide has been ongoing, with the Miramar Police Department and the families of the victims pleading for information from the community. Brent Hart's mother, Erica Wilson-Price, expressed her devastation and urged anyone with information to come forward. She emphasized the senselessness of the crime and the impact it has had on their family, particularly on Hart's young daughter, who was only one year old at the time of his death. Similarly, Cherizol-Amilcar's sister, Tahisha Amilcar-Dees, spoke about the loss of her brother and the pain of knowing he would not be able to see his two young sons grow up.
Despite the release of the surveillance video and the public appeals for information, no arrests have been made in connection with the murders of Brent Hart and Dumas Cherizol-Amilcar. The police have stated that it remains unclear whether the two men were specifically targeted or if the shots were fired indiscriminately.
