Antonio Mason, a 35-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on July 27, 2016, in Gainesville, Florida. Antonio was attending a family gathering at his in-laws' house when two masked men burst in and opened fire. The assailants targeted Antonio as he held his infant daughter, Zy'mya, in his arms. Despite his efforts to shield her, both Antonio and Zy'mya were struck by bullets. Antonio succumbed to his injuries, while Zy'mya survived with a gunshot wound to her arm.
