In the early morning hours of March 10, 2019, a violent ambush outside a Georgia hotel claimed the life of 30-year-old Jeremy Alexander Brookins, a Black man from Jacksonville, Florida. The incident unfolded around 3:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Hampton Inn in Waycross, where police responded to reports of people with guns chasing others. Upon their arrival, they discovered Brookins near the hotel's pool area, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
