On the afternoon of July 5, 2025, calls to 911 brought deputies to the 11000 block of Court Street in Stanton, where witnesses reported two young people down after gunfire. Responding units found two male juveniles suffering from gunshot wounds. Samuel Louie Vidal, a Hispanic male, age 15, was rushed to a hospital and later pronounced dead. The second victim was transported and listed in critical condition as investigators secured the block and began canvassing for leads.
