An arranged vehicle trade turned fatal in Alvin, Texas, leading to the death of 18-year-old Emad Siddiqui of Sugar Land. The incident unfolded on the evening of April 2, 2026, stemming from a disagreement that erupted during the planned car swap. The dispute took place outside a convenience store located on State Highway 35.
Following the altercation, a friend who was with Siddiqui placed a 911 call, reporting that his passenger had been shot as they were traveling on the highway.
Law enforcement officers responded to the call and located the vehicle in the 3100 block of State Highway 35, approximately a mile north of the convenience store where the argument occurred. Inside the car, they discovered Emad Siddiqui in the backseat, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators quickly connected the shooting to the earlier dispute over the vehicle trade. Their investigation led them to identify 23-year-old Eric Olvera of Alvin as the suspect. A warrant was issued for Olvera's arrest on a murder charge, and authorities cautioned that he should be considered armed and dangerous. After a search that lasted for several days, Alvin police successfully took Olvera into custody without incident. He was subsequently held in jail without bond.
