Born on November 21, 1983, in Seguin, Texas, Blakely was remembered as a loving son, father, brother, and fiancé. He had a passion for playing the guitar, skateboarding, surfing with his dog Spud, fishing, and spending quality time with friends and family. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Vincent Webb, had fled the scene on foot but was apprehended approximately 15 minutes later, several blocks away. Webb was reportedly still armed with the suspected murder weapon at the time of his arrest.

Vincent Webb, who is Blakely's brother-in-law, was subsequently charged with murder in connection to the shooting. The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation by the authorities.
