On June 13, 2024, a tragic incident occurred in Deerfield Beach, Florida, resulting in the deaths of Marrina Guadagnino and her infant son, Andre Lanns III. The events unfolded early in the morning when Andre Lanns, the 27-year-old father of the infant and boyfriend of Guadagnino, called 911 around 5:45 a.m. In the call, Lanns spoke in a muffled voice, stating that he had shot himself.
A baby could be heard crying in the background before the sound of two gunshots were heard, and the call disconnected.
Deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to the 4000 block of Eastridge Drive, where they found Lanns in the street suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the lower part of his chin. He was bleeding profusely and was holding a gun. Despite commands to drop the weapon, Lanns disobeyed and at one point ran towards the deputies, asking them to shoot him. He was eventually detained and transported to Broward Health North for medical treatment.
As the investigation continued, an AC repair man flagged down deputies after noticing blood on the door and pathway of a nearby home where he was responding to a service call. Upon entering the home, deputies discovered the lifeless bodies of Marrina Guadagnino and Andre Lanns III. Guadagnino had been shot multiple times and was found dead on the bed in the master bedroom. Andre Lanns III, the infant, was found dead in a bassinet next to the bed with gunshot wounds to the right side of his head and his abdomen.
Lanns, who had recently been discharged from the U.S. Army and had been in a relationship with Guadagnino for about three years, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder. The couple and their baby had just moved into the home a week prior to the incident. The motive behind the double shooting remains unclear.
As of the latest reports, Lanns was not listed in the jail online database and was still hospitalized due to his critical condition from the self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Broward Sheriff’s Office has expressed condolences to the families of the victims and continues to investigate the incident.
