On December 27, 2023, Lekendre Hall, a 37-year-old man from Leesburg, Florida, was found lying on the ground suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The incident occurred at 1906 West Main Street, where Leesburg Police Department (LPD) responded to a call around 8:45 p.m. Hall was transported to UF Health Leesburg, where he was pronounced deceased.
Following the incident, LPD officers secured the crime scene and summoned detectives and crime scene investigators.
After interviewing multiple witnesses, Kevin Harrison, 20, was identified as the shooter. However, at the time of the initial report, Harrison had not been apprehended by the police.
Kevin Harrison later turned himself in on December 29, 2023. He has since been indicted on a charge of first-degree murder in connection with Hall's death. Additionally, Harrison's sister, Destiny Pendleton, 22, was also indicted for her alleged involvement. Pendleton faces charges of accessory after the fact and evidence tampering.
The investigation revealed that Pendleton was involved in attempting to conceal evidence related to the shooting. During her arrest on the day of the shooting, she ran away and attempted to jump a fence before being apprehended. A police patdown found a lump in her pocket, which she claimed were shell casings from the shooting, but these casings were missing when an officer attempted to retrieve them. Further investigation, including an X-ray, revealed that Pendleton had hidden additional shell casings on her person, which she eventually handed over to the police.
Both Kevin Harrison and Destiny Pendleton are currently facing charges related to the death of Lekendre Hall. The Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office, led by State Attorney William “Bill” Gladson, is committed to seeking justice in this case and will continue to work diligently to bring it to a just resolution.
